The City of Canton Utilities Department provides billing services for residential and commercial water, sewer, stormwater, solid waste and recycling services. This department assists customers with paying utility bills, setting up or transferring service, service requests and other useful information.
The purpose of this position is to provide services to water and sewer utility customers. Successful performance contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of those services. Some duties include: processing applications to initiate, terminate and transfer services; receipting and posting of payments; balances cash receipts; answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; files a variety of documents and forms; researches and resolves customer problems; refers complex problems to supervisor. The unique needs of each customer contribute to the complexity of the position.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major job duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had prior experience in a similar position.
