The City of Canton promotes waste reduction, recommends new recycling initiatives, implements existing waste reduction and recycling programs and educates City employees and the general public about recycling programs and opportunities.

Curbside Recycling Program

Place newspaper, magazines, telephone books, aluminum cans, advertising mail, corrugated cardboard, plastic soft drink, milk and water containers, together in the same bin.

Public Recycle Stations

You may drop your recyclables at City Hall. Bins are located behind City Hall at 151 Elizabeth Street, in downtown Canton. Items accepted are plastic, paper, cardboard and a collection tank for Residential Cooking Oil.

Dumpster Days

Canton Code Compliance hosts Dumpster Days the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at City Hall to encourage city residents to take part in organizing or participating in a community cleanup in their neighborhoods. Volunteers can utilize the free Waste Management dumpster to remove clutter and debris from their yards or other areas around their home.

Christmas Tree Recycling: "Bring One for the Chipper"

The City of Canton offers Christmas Tree Recycling annually at the City Collection Site (2525 Ridge Road) Dec. 26 through the end of January


Glass Recycling

The City of Canton is no longer able to accept glass for recycling.

Residents may continue to recycle glass, separated by color, at the following Cherokee County locations:
