What's coming up in Canton: 8/2/18

Canton Theatre:

August 2 – 12 – “The Foreigner” a fast-paced comedy presented by the Canton Theatre.

August 25 – “Independent Movie Night” at 8:00 p.m. The best from Georgia writers, directors and producers.

Cherokee Arts Center:

August 3 – 23 – “Immutable Evidence” an Art exhibit by Jerry G. White in the gallery.  A reception for the artist will take place on Friday, August 3, from 6 – 8 p.m.

Cherokee County Historical Society:

August 21 – Research Done Right! A program presented by Larry Vogt at the Rock Barn beginning at 7 p.m.

August 4&5 – Sky Rebels Fly-In. A model airplane flying competition held at Etowah River Park.

 

August 11 – Chick-fil-A Moo’ve it 5K and 1-mile Fun Run at Etowah River Park. 5K begins at 8 a.m., and the Kids Fun Run begins at 9 a.m.

Downtown Canton:

The Canton Farmers Market — continues every Saturday through October from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in downtown Canton. The 10th Annual Tomato Sandwich Festival will take place on August 4 at 11 a.m.

The 7-week Summer Cornhole League continues through August 7th at Cannon Park on Tuesday evenings. Games begin at 6:45 p.m. Registration for the fall season beginning on September 4th is now open at cornholeatl.com.

August 3 – First Friday in downtown Canton! Join us for Alumni Night in Cannon Park. Wear your school colors and celebrate your high school days with us. The winning decade at last year’s Alumni Night was 1966-1975 and Anita and Party Life will bring back oldies for us to celebrate those years and more.

August 4 - Dumpster Day – Free monthly City cleanup day with dumpsters and electronic recycling at City Hall from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Go to www.cantonga.gov for a list of included acceptable items.

August 11 Concert in the Park at Brown Park 6 – 9 p.m.The band, Local Legends, will be performing on our stage, food and beverage vendors will be on site, and the park has a playground for kids. Bring your lawn chairs or a picnic blanket and enjoy an evening under the trees! This is a rescheduled concert date from June 1, which was canceled due to weather.

August 15 – Is the next meeting of A Novel Idea at East Main Café beginning at 7 p.m. The August program is SciFi/Fantasy.

August 25"Sherlock Gnomes" will begin at sundown. This is the last in the summer series of Movies in the Park at Brown Park, sponsored by Northside Hospital, Southern Outdoor Cinema, Covenant Christian Academy and the City of Canton. Bring your blanket or lawn chair for a movie under the stars.
