At the Sept. 18 Canton City Council Meeting, Mayor Bill Grant made a proclamation for Sept. 15-Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Canton. Accepting the proclamation this year on behalf of the City's Hispanic community, were the founders of Raices y Negocios, a magazine for Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs.
"Receiving the proclamation in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month is not only a great honor for me, but also a true gift to the entire Hispanic community," explained Carolina Castillo (far left). "It represents recognition of our work, commitment, and contributions to this beautiful city."
Castillo's young son attended the meeting, and she said for him, "witnessing the proclamation was an unforgettable experience; He was deeply moved. Seeing the Mayor present this recognition to his parents had a profound impact on him, and I know it will remain in his memory. Our children are the future of this county and this country, and it was truly moving to see them witness the unity between the city and the Hispanic community."
