*** Missing Person- Mr. Powell ***

               On November 2, 2025, at approximately 0909 hours, Mr. James Powell was last heard from by his daughter, Lacey Powell. That morning, around 1000 hours, Mr. Powell dropped off his dog, Ally, at a friend’s residence, stating that he would return on Wednesday, November 5, to pick her up. Lacey, Mr. Powell's daughter, reported Mr. Powell as missing on November 4, 2025. Lacey also reported that Mr. Powell's Life 360 reported his was last known location at the tennis courts (110 Racquet Club Drive- Canton, GA), where the Canton Police Units responded to for the initial report. Phone was found inside his vehicle at the same location his daughter reported his last known location on life360. We took a missing person report and listed him in GCIC as missing and extended an extensive search. 

Extensive search and investigative efforts have been conducted, including the following:

  • A BOLO (Be on the Lookout) was issued and shared via Facebook.
  • On November 4, Fire Search and Rescue teams conducted a grid search of the surrounding area.
  • Multiple locations were checked, including:
    • Quality Inn
    • Comfort Inn
    • Homestead
    • Motel 6
    • Fairfield Inn & Suites
    • Holiday Inn
    • Both Secure Storage locations in Canton
    • U-Haul Storage on Marietta Highway
    • Stacey’s Office Park
    • New storage facility off Highway 20 (across from ACE Academy)

Mr. Powell was not located at any of these sites.

Additionally, checks were made with local hospitals, including Northside, Grady, and Kennestone. It has been confirmed that Mr. Powell has not been admitted to any of these facilities. A review of Cherokee County Jail records also confirmed that he is not in custody.

Since November 3rd, a neighbor reported seeing a man matching Mr. Powell’s description walking in front of Joseph Knox Elementary School. 

 Units continue to canvas local areas. The Canton Police Department has no information suggesting that Mr. Powell has any known medical or physical conditions that would render him incapacitated or immobile. Anyone with information that may assist in locating Mr. Powell is urged to contact Sergeant Detective Mueller at ryan.mueller@cantonga.gov or 770-720-4883. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
