Press Release: Canton Man Arrested on Physical and Sexual Assault Charges

Post Date:04/20/2026 3:13 PM

On April 6, 2026, at approximately 2:58 p.m., officers with the Canton Police Department responded to Northside Cherokee Hospital in reference to a reported domestic-related incident originating from the Alexander Ridge Apartment complex.

Upon arrival, officers and detectives met with hospital staff and the adult female victim. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 23-year-old male, Ezekiel Jackson, of Canton, Georgia, had contacted the victim through a messaging application, requesting her services to clean his residence on that date.

The victim met Jackson at his residence. Once inside, Jackson assaulted the victim with a screwdriver and then sexually assaulted her. He then prevented her from leaving the residence. During the incident, the victim sustained serious head injuries.

At some point, the victim was able to persuade Jackson to take her to the hospital under the pretense they were in a relationship and that her injuries were the result of a fall while cleaning. While at the hospital, the victim disclosed the assault to medical staff, who immediately notified law enforcement.

Jackson remained at the hospital awaiting the victim’s discharge and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.

Ezekiel Jackson has been charged with the following:

  • Three (3) counts of Rape (O.C.G.A 16-6-1)
  • One (1) count of Aggravated Battery (O.C.G.A. 16-5-24)
  • One (1) count of False Imprisonment (O.C.G.A. 16-5-41)
  • One (1) count of Aggravated Assault (O.C.G.A. 16-5-21)

The Canton Police Department urges citizens to use caution when accepting job opportunities through messaging applications or online platforms. Always take steps to verify who you are meeting, avoid going alone to private residences, and ensure a trusted person is aware of your location and plans. Encounters arranged with unfamiliar individuals, especially in isolated settings, carry inherent risks, and simple precautions can significantly improve personal safety.

This case remains under active investigation, with further charges pending. Currently, investigators are not aware of any additional related incidents. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Canton Police Department at (770) 720-4883.
