In accordance with Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) regulations, this is notice that on Monday August 3, 2026, at approximately 12:00pm a wastewater spill was reported at 12 Marietta Circle, Canton, Georgia 30114.

City utility staff responded immediately and found that the spill resulted from a blockage and subsequent break in the gravity sewer line. It is estimated that more than 10,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled directly into the tributary feeding Canton Creek. Stream testing was immediately established and will continue until EPD directs otherwise. City utility staff is repairing the broken sewer pipe and pumping sewage to a downstream manhole; the discharge into the affected stream has stopped.  Public notice signs have also been posted around the spill site.

The City of Canton is taking all necessary precautions and complying with EPD guidelines.
