Councilmember Will Carlan

Will Carlan is the owner of Carlan Law, LLC in Downtown Canton. His law firm specializes in assisting clients facing legal issues regarding workers’ compensation, estate planning, probate and administration of estates, and business law.  He was named the “Best Overall Attorney” and Carlan Law was named “Best Law Firm” in the Tribune-Ledger’s “Best of Cherokee” competition in 2020.


Will Carlan was born and raised in Canton. A product of the Cherokee County school system, Will is a proud Cherokee High School Warrior. He graduated from Young Harris College, and then the University of Georgia with a degree in Political Science and Government. Will received his law degree from Mercer University and immediately began practicing in Downtown Canton. During college, he worked in Senator Zell Miller’s office in Washington, D.C. assisting in federal transportation appropriation negotiations. 


Will volunteers his time with many local groups including the Cherokee Center for the Arts and the Canton Main Street Board. He was recognized by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce in 2016 as one of the “Top 10 Young Professionals” to watch over the next ten years. Will was a member of the Cherokee Leadership class of 2018. He is a former Associate Magistrate Judge for Cherokee County, and he currently teaches Business Law and Ethics at Reinhardt University for the undergraduate and MBA programs.


Will Carlan has the distinction of completing every rank Scouting offers – from Tiger Cub to Eagle Scout - with Troop 241 in Downtown Canton. Will is an avid music, film, and theater patron with an ever-growing library of books and vinyl. He and his family live in Downtown Canton.
