Careers: Building & Custodial Services Technician I

The Position

This position is responsible for performing a full range of custodial, cleaning, and light maintenance duties in City buildings, facilities, and adjacent grounds. The primary duties and location of this position will be at an assigned government building. This individual will also provide basic maintenance services including, but not limited to, light plumbing maintenance, painting, assembling and installing furniture and other minor repairs. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, however, there may be some assigned work that will require occasional weekends.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major job duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had similar position for one to two years.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.

Demonstrated ability to work amicably among the public.

Basic facility maintenance knowledge, including, but not limited to, basic working knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, etc.

Must be familiar with proper use of various tools (screwdriver, drill, plunger, etc.) for plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc. This includes using all precautionary safeguards to avoid injury, protecting property, self and others.

Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with an attention to detail.

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.

Starting salary for this position is $15.48 per hour dependent upon qualifications & experience.
