Careers: Theatre Events and Facilities Director

The Position

This position is responsible for representing and advocating for the Canton Historic Theatre in an effort to continually enhance its image, visibility, and influence across the community.  

Duties include: Coordinate all Theatre usage including rehearsals, performances, motion picture events and special events; Completes purchase orders and requisition forms; Receives and manages theatre payments online, by phone, in person and by mail; Provide weekly reports to the Communication and Outreach Director; Ensures a clean, safe and comfortable facility; Maintains promotions of theatre and theatre events, including but not limited to online and print media; Routinely interface with the Communications and Outreach Director to review show and/or event requirements and promotions of such; Work with the Communications and Outreach Director to recruit, select, and hire qualified staff; Supervises theatre staff and volunteers; Maintain and manage Theatre inventory of furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies and concessions; Routinely monitors and manages maintenance; Nurture relationships with local business and business groups, arts groups, government agencies, the community, schools, and arts organizations; Resolves customer problems; Performs related duties and acts as team player to promote engagement in Canton.

Knowledge

Knowledge of computers, social media, and general business software (e.g. Word, Excel, Square, PowerPoint, etc.); Skill in providing quality customer service
Skill in identifying key problems and developing solutions; Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by telephone with high professionalism; Knowledge of budget management principles; Skill in preparing clear and precise reports; Skill in coordinating special events; Skill in marketing and public relations; Skill in prioritizing 

Complexity/Scope of Work

The work consists of related customer service duties providing visitors, theatre-goers, and performers with a very positive experience making it attractive for return visits.

Minimum Requirements 

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Excellent communications skills, including writing, proofreading skills and speaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.

Starting salary for this position is $42,111.35  annually dependent upon qualifications & experience.
