The Department

The City of Canton Public Works Department is committed to providing the most efficient and economical service possible to the citizens of Canton. The Public Works Department includes right-of-way management, streets and parks maintenance and inclement weather support, among many other important city functions.

The Position

This is a seasonal/temporary position responsible for the operation and handling of activities at the Etowah River Park concession stand. Typical work activities include, but are not limited to: minimal food preparation; selling of products; receives payments; manages payments on a computerized spreadsheets; balances payments at end of day; prepares daily deposit; completes a daily product inventory log; performs daily stocking and cleaning duties to ensure that concession stand and bathrooms are stocked and sanitized for the next shift; and setting up various sporting activities. Work hours vary and include evening, weekends and holidays dependent upon events and activities in the public areas.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.
Basic working knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
Ability to accurately count and handle money transactions.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be friendly, personable and well groomed.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Possession of a valid Georgia Driver’s License, preferred.


Starting salary for this position is $10.00 per hour dependent upon qualifications & experience.
