The Board of Appeals is empowered to hear variance requests from certain sections of the Code of Ordinances. The Board of Appeals also hears appeals when someone feels aggrieved by a decision made by the Director of Community Development in the enforcement and interpretation of the Development Code of the Canton Code of Ordinances.

If applications are received, this board meets the second Monday of each month.

Canton Main Street Program, which sees historical downtown as the heart of the community where social, economic and civic activities generate a welcoming environment in which local citizens and visitors can live, work, shop and play. The Mission of the Canton Main Street Program is to implement downtown revitalization under the Main Street Four-Point Approach-Organization, Promotion Design, and Economic Restructuring, all within the context of historic preservation. Canton's Historic Downtown is comprised of the core downtown business district. The official boundaries for the Main Street program run from North Street to Railroad Street to West Marietta Street to John T. Pettit Street to East Main Street.

The vision of the CCAC is for the streets, parks, events, and sites in Canton to be made more beautiful and meaningful through a collective and sustained effort to incorporate, celebrate, and promote arts of all kinds in Canton.
By advancing arts and culture as an essential element of life in Canton, we build community and connectivity while increasing economic development opportunities and promoting tourism. 

The purpose of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is to revitalize and redevelop the central business district of the City of Canton; to develop and promote trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities for the public good and general welfare; and to create a favorable climate for new and existing industry, trade and commerce in the City.

4 year terms

The Historic Preservation Commission is responsible for reviewing Certificate of Appropriateness applications to establish a proper and uniform procedure in providing for the designation, protection, preservation, and rehabilitation of historic properties and historic districts.

The Library Board oversee the operations of the local library and reports to the Regional Board.
