Finance The Finance Department manages and reports on the City's assets, revenues, and obligations. The department is charged with maintaining fiscal strength, anticipating trends, and facilitating change for the benefit of the City's residents, businesses, and community partners.

The Finance Department works closely with elected officials and management across the entire organization to develop comprehensive financial tools to support sound decisions and effective stewardship of City resources.

The City has been awarded the GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 22 consecutive years. The City also holds an Aa2 rating with Moody's Investors Service and an AA- bond rating with S&P Global Ratings.

How Do I Obtain A Tax Exemption

The City of Canton would like to remind residents that the deadline to file new senior and disability tax exemption applications is April 1 annually and must be applied through the Cherokee County Tax Assessors Office.

To receive any new exemption, individuals must apply in person at the Cherokee County Tax Assessors Office located at 2782 Marietta Hwy, Suite 200, Canton. View more information on exemptions at the Cherokee County Tax Assessors Office or call 678-493-6120.

Canton residents that hold previous senior and/or disability tax exemptions need NOT reapply. Applications are only needed for new exemptions.
