COVID-19 Update & Resources
The City of Canton is committed to bringing you the resources necessary to assist you during the growing COVID-19 Pandemic that is impacting our world. In this special newsletter, you will find resources on the current Statewide Shelter In Place for Georgia, City of Canton resources for online operations, small business resources, and even some activities for your children. Your City of Canton team is here to support you.

The current Statewide Shelter in Place Order by Governor Kemp struck down local orders by cities and counties while it is in place. City staff are not currently requested by the State to enforce the new State Order, but will be continuing to monitor and educate as it relates to social distancing and gatherings of 10 or more.

During the next week, City Offices will be working utilizing a hybrid of telework, mobile worksites, flexible work hours, and staggered staffing to meet the spirit of the State Order and to protect our employees. City Offices will be open and operating on a shortened schedule from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily with limited staffing. These facilities are still closed to the public. Our staff will respond to calls, emails and web-applications. You may call City Hall at 770-704-1500 for additional assistance.

The City has suspended the disconnection of utility accounts and is waiving all penalties and fees due to late payments. Payments for utilities, citations and business licenses can be made online HERE. Additionally, these payments can be made by check and mailed to City of Canton, 110 Academy Street, Canton, Georgia 30114 or placed in the dropbox at City Hall (no cash payments please). Online or phone credit/debit card payments do incur a third party convenience fee. If you would like to sign up for autodraft service for utility billing that does not include a fee, please call 770-704-1502.

The City of Canton Parks are currently open. The CDC recommends that Americans get exercise for both physical and mental health. During this time, City playgrounds, ball fields/courts, and pavilions are closed. Use of the parks and trails is allowed, but must adhere to the Statewide Order. This includes social distancing and no gatherings over 10. No team sports are allowed. Canton Police have deployed our bicycle officers to help monitor these areas and are providing education in English and Spanish. Additionally, all City events and activities for April, May First Friday as well as the May 19th Canton River Rock Concert have been cancelled. Also be aware that the Governor's orders for Shelter in Place limit gatherings and social distancing on private playground facilities, recreation facilities, pools, etc., including HOA controlled properties.
