Main Street Board
The Canton Main Street Program is governed by a Board of up to sixteen Directors appointed by the Mayor of Canton. Four directors are required to be chosen from the following groups, with one Director to come from each group: History Cherokee, Downtown Development Authority, Canton Tourism, Inc., and Canton Arts Commission. The optional twelve remaining directors are 'at large'. The term of office for each Director shall be four years, with the option to be reappointed.
Vision
The Canton Main Street Program sees historical downtown as the heart of the community where social, economic and civic activities generate a welcoming environment in which local citizens and visitors can live, work, shop and play.
Mission
The Mission of the Canton Main Street Program is to implement downtown revitalization under the Main Street Four-Point Approach-Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring, all within the context of historic preservation.
